Food for Thought Events
Creating context & fostering connection
Food for Thought is an exhibition by renowned photographer and filmmaker Kadir van Lohuizen, hosted at the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam. This thought-provoking exhibition delves into the origins of our food, exploring the intricate systems and global connections that sustain our modern diet. Kadir’s work encompasses not only the exhibition but also a book and documentary series, offering a comprehensive exploration of our food systems.
It is within this context that EatThis. organizes a series of events designed to bring together diverse stakeholders from the food production industry and beyond. By inviting voices from health, arts, technology, and society in general, and give them some Food for Thought, we aim to foster meaningful connections and conversations about our future of food.
About EatThis.
At EatThis., our mission is to create a space where dialogue and collaboration can flourish. Creating context and connecting people is at the heart of what we do. We design our events to maximize interaction and engagement, nurturing an atmosphere where cross-disciplinary collaborations can thrive. This approach breaks down barriers and encourages the sharing of knowledge and ideas, which is essential for tackling the complex challenges in food production and sustainability.

26 – 27 august 2024: Two-day residency in horticulture.
As a result of our June meetings, where key voices called for systemic change and cross-sector connections, we invited Patrick Deckers and Rutger Quispel from the Caring Doctors for a residency in horticulture.
The aim was to find ways find connections and ways to support the doctors’ mission: Shifting hospital meals in the Netherlands to an 80-20 plant-based model, reducing reliance from animal proteins and moving toward healthier, more sustainable options. On the final day, we recorded a podcast at Hortibiz Newsradio. Listen to the recording here.
19 – 22 september 2024: Unseen photography exhibition in Amsterdam.
The Unseen photography exhibition featured Kadir’s Food for Thought series and a modern food production unit in front of the exhibition to to bridge the world of arts and food production, and spark interest and discussion among visitors on our current and future food systems.
