Kadir van Lohuizen dives into modern horticulture

On March 3, 2022, Kadir iniciated his in-residency by spending several days in North Holland, where he learnt about the production of food in the modern greenhouses of Agrocare. While at the job, he shared some behind the scenes on the EatThis instagram account, which he will also do for his next trip. Because, soon, he will head to the Westland area to discover more about modern and high-tech horticulture at its best.
On his exploration, he hopes to find an answer to how a tiny country like the Netherlands can be the second largest food exporter in the world.

About Kadir van Lohuizen

As a photographer, Kadir has covered conflicts in Africa and elsewhere but is probably best known for his long-term projects on the seven rivers of the world, the rising of sea levels, the diamond industry and migration in the Americas. In recent years, Kadir focuses on environmental issues. Recently, his work was exposed at the Expo Dubai 2020, confronting visitors with the effects of climate change and modern food production methods. And soon you will get to appreciate the outcome of his exploration in the Dutch horticulture scene for his artist-in-residency with EatThis.

Why an artist-in-residence in horticulture?

We believe that, in order to find solutions on how to feed the world without harming the planet, we need to collaborate. And connect to society. We need to embrace possibilities and innovation and team up with artists, designers, economists, politicians, and creative thinkers to come up with new ideas for the future of food.

Do you think so too and do you have an idea you want to share? Let us know!
